Dark Soda: BEWARE!

Dark Soda and its Diet Counterpart

Soda comprises more than one-fourth of all drinks that are consumed in the United States. More than 15 billion gallons were sold in 2000 alone, which is equivalent to one 12 oz can of soda, per day, for every man, woman, and child. Carbonated drinks provide more added sugar in the average 2-year old toddler’s diet than cookies, ice cream, and candies added together. 56% of 8-year olds drink one soda daily, and 1/3 of teenage boys drink at least 3 can per day. Daily calories from soda and fruit drinks nearly tripled from 1977 to 2001, and side effects of soda include weight gain, fatigue, and sugar dependency.

It is easy to believe one gets enough “water” from liquid refreshments such as soda, coffee, beer, and fruit juices because they all contain water. The problem is they also contain caffeine, sugar, alcohol, artificial sweeteners and chemicals that all cause major dehydration. The more these products are consumed, the more dehydrated you become because the effects that these substances have on the body are the complete opposite of the effects water has. Caffeine containing products, like sodas, trigger stress responses within the body that have strong diuretic effects. Added sugars, cause blood sugar levels to rise, which then leads to the depletion of much needed cellular water. Over time, chronic dehydration results and toxic levels within the body can become an issue. Additionally…….

(P.A. refers to Phosphoric Acid)

1. Phosphoric Acid (found in dark sodas) leeches minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium out of the bone.

2. PA destroys the beneficial bacteria in the lower GI tract leading to blood sugar and autoimmune issues.

3. PA destroys the adrenal glands, which sit on top of the kidneys, making it impossible to metabolize white fat.

4.  PA dehydrates us at the cellular level leading to a breakdown in the neuro-transmission and the electrical integrity side of the body, affecting cognitive function, heart and all muscles.

5. PA has a pH factor of 2.8 which is extremely acidic and dangerous; leading to bacterial, viral, cancer, gene and neurological problems, not to mention the gastro-intestinal problems.

6. PA robs the hemoglobin/oxygen carrying capacity of the human red blood cell

7. PA saturates and depletes the receptor sites in the brain for amino acids like Gaba, glutamine, phenylalinine, and Taurine. Those amino acids, which calm the central nervous system-affecting anxiety, panic and depression

8. PA is a solvent, thereby making it very hard, by osmosis and diffusion, to get water transported into the cell.  This makes it extremely difficult for water, oxygen and nutrients to get into the cell and get metabolic waste out of the cell into the extracellular fluid.

9.  When you drink the diet form, you additionally introduce aspartame/Nutrasweet, which becomes wood methanol, or formaldehyde at 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Our bodies are 98.6 degrees, and the aspartame wreaks havoc on our central nervous systems.
